We dedicate this website to Sylvia Helga Reid. What an adventure she had!

It provides glimpses of mom’s life as she showed up as a wife, daughter, sister, teacher and friend. And of course, as our mother.

Please enjoy these pages in your own time and as a celebration of a wonderful life.

Directions
Only as I journeyed through my own life, and experienced the knocks, the ups and downs, did I more and more come to realise and appreciate the amazing strength, spirit and grounded safety that was mom.
She weathered everything with grace and her beautiful smile. And if she could create something beautiful while doing so, she did that too!

"We grow neither better nor worse as we get old, but more like ourselves” (May Becker) and this so beautifully captures your twilight years. Thanks mom for all the time we spent together as you journeyed through the sunset of your life. There was a lot of hard work involved, but this pales in comparison with the many laughs and escapades where beautiful memories were made. These will never fade and I treasure the togetherness that you, Lorna and I shared.

MY HEART WILL STOP!
(for Sylvia)

To be,
To be,
Be my Valentine, be.
Take the plunge,
Take the chance,
Embrace romance
For me,
For me!
Be my Valentine, be.

Come! Dance with me in the sun,
It will be ever so much fun,
“Love is a many splendoured thing”,
Allow its joyous bells to ring.
Long we can be together
No matter the kind of weather;
Come wind,
Come snow,
Come storm or rain
The sun will always shine again.
So! Be my Valentine, be.

If your answer is: ‘No’,
My heart will stop,
My psyche will go to pot.
Then let me be,
“Let it be”.

No! No!
Pray, I pray:
‘Be my Valentine, be.’
